The ever-popular Darren Clarke, who will captain the European team at next year’s Ryder Cup, has enjoyed a distinguished career, one that has seen him capture titles in all corners of the world. Darren’s finest moment came at the 140th Open in 2011, where he held off Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson to clinch a thrilling victory at Royal St George’s. The highlight came five years after he inspired Europe to an emotionally charged Ryder Cup win over the United States at The K Club, having been picked as a wildcard. The 47-year-old is a dedicated worker for charity through his Darren Clarke Foundation and he was made an Honorary Member of the European Tour in 2011, the same year he was awarded an OBE.
